"Silent Hunter" is a submarine simulator set during the Second World War where the player assumes the role as captain of either an American submarine or German U-boat.  

 

The game was first released in 1996 with four sequels, the last of which was released in 2010.  The video game developer "Strategic Simulations" owned the rights to the first version of the game before the franchise was purchased by the French based software firm "Ubisoft".
